Johann Robbins, Co-founder, Hilltop Villas, SA

Johann Robbins is an entrepreneur, real estate broker and developer, who has experienced multiple successes. While living in Colorado, he has also enjoyed a lifelong attraction to the beaches of Mexico and Central America.

In 2000 Johann and his wife Alice moved to Bayfield, Colorado, near Durango, where Johann focuses on real estate development and brokerage. Johann purchased two older downtown buildings, which he completely remodeled into office suites, apartments and a café. With Sueño del Sur partner Mynders Glover, he also purchased several other investment and redevelopment properties in the area. Johann obtained his real estate brokerage license in 2003, and opened Realty Executives of Bayfield with Todd Demko in 2005.

Along with Sueño del Sur, Johann is now working on a 138 unit residential development in Bayfield called Mesa Meadows, a 20 acre residential development in Titusville, Florida; and several other projects in Florida, Colorado and New Mexico.

Johann graduated from the University of Colorado in Boulder in 1978, and started a Mexican import business—Equinox Trading Company. Equinox sold jewelry, silver, onyx, and apparel to over 200 retail accounts in Colorado, New Mexico and Wyoming.

After selling Equinox in 1980, Johann started a construction company, Arck Interiors, which participated in several major commercial projects in Boulder, including remodeling the 186-room Hotel Boulderado, a lovely turn of the century Victorian hotel. Arck became one of the most sought after contractors in Boulder, and grew to 18 full time employees. In addition to construction management, Johann’s responsibilities included sales, bidding and design. Arck was sold in 1986.

Other Entrepreneurial Start-ups:

In 1986, Johann began The Business Planning Group, a consulting company that helped entrepreneurs with start-ups, business planning, marketing, fund-raising, and location strategies. National clients included Cellular Solutions (acquired by Cellular One), and Wild Oats Markets (OATS).

In 1992 Johann started Natural Water Systems, manufacturing water filtration systems for the natural foods industry and Mexico. In 1996 the company was acquired by Water Chef (WTER).

Then in 1998 Johann co-founded American Floral Exchange, an Internet based wholesale flower brokerage, which was sold to B2Bflower.com in 2001.

Johann brings a wealth of business and creative experience to the Sueño

del Sur project, as well as his knowledge and love of Latin America. He is deeply involved in every detail of Sueño del Sur, and in addition to his drive to build a fantastic project, he is looking forward to living there seasonally once it is built.
